Now, Karnataka Police have No Case Against Nithyananda

Bangalore, Jun 11 (DHNS): The State police on Thursday submitted before the Karnataka High Court that not much has come out of its probe against self-styled godman Nithyananda. 

The arguments on the bail plea of Nithyananda appeared to be concluded on Thursday as the State police submitted that there were not much findings and recordings in the matter. 

The police said it was pursuing the case registered under Section 295(A) of IPC (showing disrespect to religious sentiment) and that Nithyananda was not required for any interrogation.

B V Acharya, former advocate general appearing for the godman alleged that his client has been suffering in the prison for the past 50 days facing allegations of cheating.

Justice Subhash B Adi said it was not a simple matter as the appellant travelling with a girl, was not a common man. Acharya claimed that he (Nithyananda) never claimed himself to be a Sanyasi, but was just preaching Brahmacharya.

When the Court sought to know whether there is any substance which constitutes offence in the CDs, the counsel said that the CDs and the script both could be morphed.

The Judge, referring to the film ‘3 idiots’ said, “ I have seen it happen in the film.”
