Mangaluru, Jan 1: Continuing its tradition of coming up with innovative projects that perform well in State Level events, ten projects from St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, have been selected for total funding of Rs 27.45 Lakhs from the New Age Innovation Network (NAIN), under the Department of Electronics, Information Technology (IT), Bio-Technology (BT) and Science & Technology (S&T), Government of Karnataka.
In a recent visit to the college Dr Sandhya Anvekar, head of Skilling Programs under Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS), inspected the Incubation Centre facilities provided by the college to the students and lauded the college for the efforts put in to make the state of the art facilities available to the student community to take up innovative projects having societal relevance. Dr Sandhya hoped that the infrastructure and research-friendly culture in the college would contribute positively to developing an entrepreneurial mindset among students. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director of SJEC, Fr Rohith D’Costa, assistant director of SJEC, Dr Rio D’Souza, principal of SJEC, Dr Purushothama Chippar, college coordinator and Yathish Kumar K, NAIN District Innovation Associate were present on the occasion.
St Joseph Engineering College was selected for funding under the New Age Innovation Network (NAIN) to cater to the needs of the local community and to strengthen the start-up ecosystem on campus. Ever since its inception, the NAIN Incubation Centre has been working towards supporting innovation-related activities in a variety of ways.
The college had submitted 15 ideas for support under NAIN funding and ten of those ideas were selected for total funding of Rs 27.45 lac. The NAIN Incubation Centre at SJEC is well equipped with all infrastructure and machinery required to implement these innovative ideas ranging from computing devices, high-speed internet, electronic equipment’s, 3D Printing Machine and Laser Cutting Machine etc.
