Mangalore: Congress Leaders Offer Horekanike to Ullal DargahDaijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SB) Mangalore, Apr 23: The traditional horekanike was taken out for Ullal Dargah Uroos in a procession from the Nehru Maidan here in the city on Thursday April 22. Procession was taken out under the leadership of former union minister B Janardhan Poojary, who also inaugurated the event.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that dargah was a holy place and it is Indian culture to respect all religions. The horekanike is offered to reinforce religious harmony in the socirty. Rice, cash and vegetables among others have poured in from various sources, he added.
Bantwal MLA B Ramanath Rai, Mulky-Moodbidri MLA Abhaychandra Jain and zilla panchayat member A C Bhandary among others were present.

Shri Janardhan Pojari did a yeoman service in arranging HOREKANIKE to ULLAL Dargha.This is really a good will gesture.We have to appriciate that.Joinng missing link between community to community is a political gymmick? as said by some comments!!!! Not at all.I don't go in to detail as did by Mr Nithin Poojari.Dakshina Kannada already poisioned by Sanghparivar and the polarisation is at peak.If Billava and Muslims join together for the sake of betterment of their respective community what is wrong in that.See BJP,appeasing majority community and all top post enjoyed by higher castes either in party or govt!!Narayana Guru propagates universal brotherhood what Islam does.This Horekanike opens new era in binding muslim community and hindu community as ONE COMMUNITY.S.Kukkikatte, this time I disagree with U because Mr Janardana Poojari not first time doing like this service (BONDING BETWEEN COMMUNITY)and for all critics of Poojari- He is Mr Clean in politics with long innings,not communal and supporter of HAVENOTES.

If this horakanike was given by BJP then there would have been totally different comments below, WELL DONE SHRI YEDDYURAPPAJI etc etc, since it is done by Mr. Janardhan Poojary some people cannot digest, if Mr.Poojary gives Horakanike to Garodi, Nandavara temple people say it is for hindu votes, while he was a Rajya sabha MP his salary use to go to one of the missionaries in Mangalore for charity at that time people said it is for christian votes, if he gives horakanike to Ullal darga you guys say its for Muslim vote.What is wrong by doing this,every politician does for votes the difference is BJP is creating Hindu Muslim riots and killing people, BJP is attacking churches for votes. Guys decide which is better politics giving horakanikes or riots, attacking churches, creating hatredness.By giving horakanike no religion sentiments are harmed, but infact the need of the hour is to patch up the differnces between the two religion. Nagesh Nayak, why can't you appreciate the secular feelings of people of Mangalore. This was the Mangalore before your BJP seeded communal poison for the selfish political benefits.This type of Horekanike is not new. For Kudroli temple there was Horekanike from churches and Darghas. Now Kudroli temple is reciprocating the same. I have seen many temples built with donations from muslims. To give a example there is Chanda Chandeshwari Temple in Ashoknagar where wood was supplied free of cost by Yenepoya during its Jeernodhara in 1989-90(my late father was the President of Jeenodhara Samithi then). This is the culture of Mangalore. It is you people(BJP)who have spead hatred among communities. There is need of unity among mangaloreans to drive away the communal elements and save our mangalorean culture.
For first time I agree with Mr.Shahanawaz. I want to add some more.Not only dargas... nationalize all temples also.I have seen our community people spending crores on temples and I dont know where the money goes.. not only that.. if they spend 20% of this amount on poor people towards education and health, we may see complete changes in our political and socilal scenario. But the question.. will politicians and religious leaders come out of their vested interests to do this? Nowadays , They do it either from more money or just to get credit and better image..
This shows that people in Mangalore really needs harmony, See the photos shows Different temples, and mutts have donated to Dargah. Its only the political leaders and their goondas are creating the chaos and break everything and to some extent police too support their actions.
Actually such things should be done to bring religious harmony. What is the use of fighting and spreading hatred, but here I seriously doubt the intentions of Poojari Nataka Mandali. I doubt his intentions. He and his vote bank politics.

I doubt Mr.Poojaris todays statement,horekanike word itself says kanike,it is not to maintain religious harmany in the society.it is one type of kanike/pooja offering to Allah,Yesu,Ram.Religious harmony is distrubed always by anti social elements or some politicians.Many of the hindus visit ullala dargh and offer pooja.

Politicians, they are little bit contributing to create synchronization between clashed two community, which they destroyed before. Dear readers did you notice the banners on the truck? This Horekanike donated by different groups, like Clubs & temples etc. But Congress leaders are taking the credit. I don't think they spent anything from their pocket, all from the poor people.What a drama played keeping in mind about the Grama panchayath elections.I have seen in few temples, most of the things like fruits & vegetables received as Horekanike will get spoiled & thrown to dustbin. It is true, lots of Plantains, Tomatos & other vegetables(like Tendli) will over ripe & no other choice than dumping in to the dust bin. So, why we have to send horekanike in bulk to any place. Instead of that if you are so fond of donating give the money or bare partly expenses of the festival or the renovation. But as per me the best service is to feed the poor, instead of sending horekanike. No God will ask for Horekanike, but if you serve for the poor I am sure God will be happy & bless you. Avoid converting Prayer places as Palaces, just do the maintenance of the structure & maintain the cleniness of the place. Don't decorate with Gold & Silvers, coz one day it will be robbed. Again the Astrologer will say, due to robbery the purity of the Prayer place is gone. So, you have to purify the place by spending lakhs of rupees. Astrologer will get his payment & the Trustees will get a chance to misuse the fund.Why you have to give chances for all this, serve for the poor people.JANATA SEVEYE JANARDHANA SEVE

Instead of giving this much to the dargah,Mr Poojary and Mr Rai should have distributed these items amongst the needy and poor of mangalore, which could have fetched them more votes. These dargahs are self sufficient and generate more funds than required. The funds of darghas are never spent ton poor but goes to the personal bank accounts of trustees and adminstrators. Please go ahead and nationalise these dargahs and let the revenue be spent on needy and poor of that area irresepctive of caste and creed. Let all people benefit.
