Though not late it should be appriciated and it will be implemented properly. It is adviseble to have differential parking rates depending on the time. This will encourage pepole to use public conveyance thus resulting in decreasing congestion.

    DC Sir,
Please control our bus and auto people. This will solve 80% of traffic woes. Tell all traffic police not to accept bribe from these people and instead book them at the of the hat. This will cause fear in their mind and they will stop all the non-sense.
Rest control the youngsters by booking them and seizing their vehicles for atleast one week and one day reformatory detention.
Whatever it may be, please control the buses of this port town. Harass them by booking them at the of the hat and you will see the change.

Apart from these paid parking places, the indiscriminate parking of Autos waiting for passenger pickups at road junctions cause bottle necks. These are also to be stopped.

    * New buildings are given license without allocating an inch of parking space.
    * Basements of all buildings are rented out for shops or godowns.
    * Vehicle registrations are increasing day by day.
    * No parking zones are also increasing.
    * Multi level parking project at Hampankatta is in the pipeline for so long that the "pipeline" might have rusted or clogged by now!!!
How can all these things happen at the same time???

DC had announced the same car parking rules with details of places about two months back and this is a repetition of what was said earlier. There was also a proposal to make a bus stop for buses going towards Hampankatta. We have to wait and see when these rules will be implemented.

The best solution for traffic woes of Mangalore city is to introduce compulsory public transportation system even for office goers.Every instutions should provide their public transportaion system for its employees. Further the density of traffic between Udupi to manglore can be reduced by plying local train Between Mangalore to Bhatkal

It is a welcome move by the DC & hope we the public realise it is for our own good n co-operate with authorities. It could have some teething problems initially, but in course of time, systems will fall in place and we will get used to it. Strict vigilance and paroling should be conducted at regular intervals, so that public follows the instructions. Towing of vehicles when an offence is observed is a welcome move, this will help authorities maintain descipline. If other cities can follow this system, why not us?

Concerned authorities should check on parking areas for buildings on main roads n otherwise, coz most of these maultistoryed buildings do not have adequate parking. This generally reseults in parking on road sides.!!! Unless some serious system is put in place, we will have serious problems in city with increasing number of vehicles.

We have the paid parking system all over Kenya. The amount differs from town to town. In Nairobi for a 4 wheeler (lorries and heavy vehicles are not allowed parking in the town) the daily charge is Kenya Shilling 140/- (Approximately Rs.90/-). However one can pay on a monthly basis which is valid from the 1st till the end of the month at a fee of Kshs.2,000/-. There are over 200 attendants from the City Council who will issue the daily receipts. Besides there are private parking areas where a vehicle is charged on an hourly basis. If anyone parks without paying the fees, the vehicle is clamped and can be retrieved only after paying the penalty of Kshs.2,140/-. There is no parking charge after 4 pm till the next day at 7 am. There is no parking charge onSundays and Holidays. There are also towing vehicles which take the unattended vehicles which are blocking the movement of traffic.

Paid parking must be with eltronic machines only which works with solar power. This will not give any room for corruption.

District administration should also make a provision to stop the buses off the road by paving the way by half curve, so that bus stops off the road than stopping them in middle n creating chaos(its ben practiced in few places in kerala and abroad). I propose the media to make certain arrangements of conveying our comments to the administration.

Its been a great initiative by the administration. Meantime i would like to bring in notice that the traffic congestion on the stretch is caused 10% by parking and 90%by the city buses. Every bus needs to stop one behind the other, which is not happening leading to block the road and create huge congestion. I suggest the media to have a clipping on balmatta road and near Nanthoor during the peak hours and find the real cause of the problem and solve menace. I guess if district administration takes strict action against the bus on were to stop/Pick the passengers would solve 50% of the problem.

The idea is bringing the Paid parking sytem in the city is appreciable and revenue generator. This money can be useful for other municipal developements. Now the question comes how it can work?? This system can be sucsessful in the Middle East countries & europe countries. Only success can be possible if all the motor vehicle should registed electrinically & identified if any violations.

The owner of motor vehicle to be remined through SMS and able to get fine informations on websites and every year vehicale passig system should be there to check the vehicle maintance to run on the road. Then only Road and Transport administration fully successful. Bringing all this ideas can be very easy but implementation in india is very difficult! Hope we will pray for the sucess

Mangalore have narrow width roads and the vehicles are swelling by the days hence car/bike parking on such roads are not advisable. The rickshaw should be provided with many multi-storied mini parking-bldg and should not be allowed to park in the crucial road ends. All over the world the road ends & road curves are No-Park/Stop Zones.

MCC should construct multi-storied Car-Park buildings at strategic points all over the city and would be constructed through 'Build-Own-Operate and Transfer' (BOOT) system and the construction and maintenance cost would be recovered from toll collection. Bikers park their bikes at car-park slot in a haphazard manner which should be taken care of.

RTO should introduce Patrol Bikes one each for every region and they should be able to cover the Patrolling of all the Roads & By-lanes in their area once every hour during peak period.
MCC should introduce Tow-Truck to remove illegally parked vehicles. The luxury private buses, institutional buses, trucks etc should not be allowed to park on the roadsides and if possible should ban their entry to the City Center. The car owners of apartment bldg should not be allowed to park over-night on the roadsides. Sometimes they park at critical accident spots of the road-curves which are very dangerous. Over-loading and goods jetting out strictly should not be allowed. All unscientific speed-humps which topples and damages the belly of the vehicles should be removed.

Electronic parking machines should be installed to ensure the sum collected via parking charges goes directly to the govt instead of giving tenders and collecting cash

Lets hope that the move works.  I hope that the cops(police) are around to guide the people at these particular areas, otherwise it may be too confusing to demarcate exactly.
