Bandar Seri Begawan, Feb 13 (DPA) Brunei has banned the newly released Hollywood film "Valentine's Day" from theatres after religious leaders ruled that the holiday "is not for Muslims", media reports said Saturday.
As the sultanate's Islamic leaders believe the celebration of Valentine's Day encourages "promiscuous activity", the censorship board ordered cinema halls to remove the film that co-stars Julia Roberts, the Brunei Times reported.
One movie house employee said the film may have been banned due to "homosexual" content, which is also taboo under Islamic strictures.
Brunei Darussalam is a predominantly Muslim country located on the tip of North Borneo.
