Mangalore, Jan 31: The building of Canara Organisation for Development and Peace (CODP) near Padua at Nantoor here was targeted by miscreants on Saturday January 30 late night and as a result damage was inflicted on glass painting portraying Mother Mary at the entrance arch of the building.

In the incident that came to light in the wee hours of Sunday January 31, apart from the damage to the arch with glass painting, window panes of the building too have been damaged due to stone pelting. The local residents who saw the glass pieces in front of the main entrance to the CODP informed about the incident to the CODP authorities.

The CODP is a social and cultural organisation which carries out programmes on culture, society and seminars on social work.

Police have visited the spot. On a complaint by Fr Onil D’Souza, director of the CODP Kadri police have registered a case.

I think it is high time that this worth less government is dismissed and President's rule imposed .Just the other day on the occasion of Republic Day the Governor of Karnataka reminded the State Govt.of its constitutional duty after the attacks near Mysore & Bhatkal.Thereafter the State Home Minister says own security arrangements have to be done to protect places of worship. If that is the case what is the use of a large police paraphenelia at the cost of tax payers money. You might as well dismantle the force so that everyone can take the law into ones own hand as is being done by a few cadres .

Dont show finger to all Hindus. Only 3% of them do these types of works. CODP was attacked some months back. Their duty is to install hidden cam at the entrance. in the future it is better to install hidden cam at churches or any Christian community centres. Spend little money for this, and dont use innocent Christian youth to protest against these incidents. (Last time the youths who the protested their cases are not taken back, no one spends for these innocents).

While there is outpour of reactions for this incident, I see this as a individual act and not a preplanned organised attack. Just last week BD had conducted their gathering wherein some of the leaders had only ill to speak of other religions. Eventually that hangover has still remained and I see some of them still wearing bandanas and roaming around after a week of the event. One guy simply must have picked a stone and thrown at the glass before disappearing.

Everyone know majority mangaloreans are educated! so there shouldnt be any doubt given on them. The next is on the relegion! when a church or mosque is attacked the blame falls on poor Hindu and when a temple is attacked, its hardly appears on the news. I am a hindu and i am proud to be a hindu, this doesnt mean i get involve or support any of these dirty act.Rather i do enjoy the freedom that i have in the religion i beleive(no need to visit temple, eat anything u wish etc..it only teaches me the good things to do but not mandatory to follow! i choose the right for myself).

However there are equal number of dirty minds in all the religion who is invloved in all these acts. Like you guys am also very sure that these are crime created by the opposing political parties to gain the power by changing the peoples mind for money or it is by organised crime by neighbouring country to disturb the peace in your town. As long as we dont understand it and fall victim to these people!!

religion is a tool which is played by our so called politician and leaders. when they think people are living in harmony and are not calling their leaders they use it so that there is some unrest and they can show there importance. I am surprised what they call caste is made by human beings for their own benefit and we still being educated when it comes to religion we act like road side loafers every body say there is one god but no one can see him but every one believes it so why r they hurting other sentimental by throwing stone at god.i would like the younger generation to see the pros & con before they do the action.

This is a politically motivated attack, a fact everyone accepts. With police force on BJP govt side, it will be sucidal for other parties to plan and ute such attacks. The well co-ordinated pattern of attacks, shows it is a political conspiracy hatched by BJP leaders. After having trained its cadre's on stoning even BJP itself is not immune from it. Recently, mayors car was stoned where it is parked, culprits were from Bajarang Dal, who were angry with mayor for not giving donation.

Catholics and Christians have lived in peace with their neighbours of different religions and faiths and cults for almost 2000 years in India, a country known for its tolerance and nonviolence. Sadly, the current situation in some parts of India reflects otherwise. For the past couple of years, there has been a wave of violence targeted to their places of worship and to people by the senseless people for no reason. Such people have caused unnecssary damage materially, spiritually and emotionally. This is very troubling. All peaceloving people of good faith must rise above our human bickering and senselessnes to be silent no more. This attitude of "rising above" and becoming the instruments of peace to co-exist with one another must be the authentic examples for our children, teenagers and adults who with their inner strength and goodwill create an atmosphere of human respect, freedom to worship and liberty to love every fellow human being. It is my firm belief that these values and virtues when activated will certainly crush the evil thoughts of the evil people. We, whatever our position in our society may be, rise up to speak out and speak up now so that these inhumane and violent activities by the few, may be shunned.

No devotee of any religion could target a sacred and venerable replica of devotion. When a desecration of this sort takes place, it is proper for the religious heads of different religions to condemn it as an irreligious act. Silence of the religious leaders sometimes does not augur well for a civilized society.

Pelting stone at worshiping places doesn't exhibit much than the sickness in the mind of a person or persons involved in that act I strongly suspect this act is not carried out by BJP and its branches like RSS, BJD, VHP etc. because being in power nobody will look up and spit, I believe they know the result of such spiting, but it is definitely done by those who wants to grab power at any cost by creating disharmony and tarnishing BJP's image, if you are wise enough… closely watch the political game in the state you will have the answers ready for you!.

Mind you I am not the advocator of BJP, but all political parties and politician are the same, be in power or in opposition, they have removed the words "Shame" and "Shameless" from their dictionary, there is no point in talking to or talking about a person who has removed these words from his/her dictionary! it is merely wast of time and energy!

From the beginning Christiantiy has emerged victorious through sufferings and pain due to its basic principles of forgiveness, peace, love and tolerance. None of our Saints & Martyrs have never retaliated their enemies but humbly submitted themselves to the enemy for the love of Jesus Christ. More we are put to test, more strong our faith emerges. Have true faith in the teachings of Jesus and these silly, desperate attempts of miscreants will never have any impact on peace, but, will unite us even closer to Jesus and to each other. May Jesus give us strength to be prepared to shed every of our blood to foil the evil designs of enemy peacefully and prove that we are the true followers of Jesus - Prince of Peace, our High Priest, our loving shepherd.

Forgiveness and Prayer in FAITH in the LORD JESUS CHRIST is the only ANSWER. "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Luke 23:33-35 (New International Version) 33 When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."[a] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. 35The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, "He saved others let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One."
