Mangaluru: SJEC's Aren Fernandes wins gold medal in Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship

Mangaluru, Dec 14: Aren Joy Fernandes, a first-year student of electronics and communication engineering of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), here, brought laurels to the college and to the city by winning gold medal in Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship held at Kazakhstan from December 2 to 8.

He secured first place in squat, second place in deadlift and first place in overall below 66 kg powerlifting championship (squat 180 kg, bench press 97.5 kg, deadlift 215 kg, totaling up to a weight of 492.5 kg).



Aren who entered sports at a very young age has 6 gold, 3 silver and 2 silver medals to his credit in various state, national and international level championships.

The college held a felicitation programme during which Aren Fernandes was felicitated by the management of the college in the presence of his mother Anandi Fernandes.

St Joseph Engineering College is proud of his achievements and congratulates him on his outstanding efforts.
