Bhopal, Nov 29: A trader from Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri on Thursday claimed that his consignment of onion worth Rs 20 to 22 lac has possibly been stolen.
The truck was transporting 40 tons of onions, from Nashik to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. However, instead of reaching its destination, it was found deserted and empty in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh.
As per the information by Prem Chand Shukla, a wholesaler who had shipped the consignment, the truck left Nashik on November 11 and was supposed to reach the destination on November 22, which it never did. With the rise in the price of onions, a theft of this magnitude has hit Shukla majorly.

To register a complaint of the incident Shukla then approached the district Superintendent of Police Rajesh Singh Chandel, requesting him to look into the case.
“We will register a case and arrest the culprits,” the SP said addressing the press.
Currently, the onion prices are Rs 100 per kg in Madhya Pradesh.
The police officials are tracking the whereabouts of the driver of the truck who is missing along with the onions.
