Jaipur, Nov 28: 21 Pakistani migrants on Wednesday were granted Indian citizenship by the Rajasthan government. Reportedly the migrants were residing in India for over 19 years after they were displaced by Pakistan.

As they had no Indian citizenship, they found difficulties in getting government jobs and availing benefits of the various schemes, District Collector, Jaipur, Jagroop Singh Yadav stated.

Yadav claimed that in the past two months a total of 35 Pakistani migrants received Indian citizenship. He alleged that 28 more citizenship applications are currently under process and around 63 cases are under investigation. Once the required process is complete, the migrants will be awarded citizenship.

Yadav proudly asserted that Jaipur is a pioneer in issuing Indian citizenship to Pakistani migrants through the online process.

Besides Jaipur, district collectors in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer in the state have the right to grant Indian citizenship to Pakistani migrants after thorough investigation.
