Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School Primary Section holds annual sports meet

Mangaluru, Nov 2: The much awaited annual sports meet for 2019-20 of the primary section of Mount Carmel Central School was held on November 2 with zeal, excitement and frolic atmosphere.

The programme commenced with prayer. Chief guest, Shreema Priyadarshini, an international athlete fondly known as 'Mangaluru's Golden Girl' along with the principal, Sr Melissa, administrator Sr Carissima, the students and staff paid respect in unison as the MCCS flag was hoisted high.



Students accorded a warm welcome to the gathering by their graceful dance. Richa joyfully welcomed and introduced the chief guest. The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a sporting way as the class III champs presented a mass drill performance which set the tone for the day’s events. The chief guest declared the sports meet open, as the colourful balloons were released high into the bright sky.

The chief guest, Shreema Priyadarshini in her message congratulated the students, appreciated the tireless effort of the staff and urged the students to strive towards excellence with consistency.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Reshma while Nonisha compered the event.

One could witness fairness, fun, frolic and the air was filled with cheers and applause for the little athletes. Students of classes I to IV competed in events like backward race, pencil balance, running race, dumb bells, one leg race, frog race, walk race and long jump. Fun time with a hoops relay between the houses added to the enjoyment. The true spirit of sportsmanship was portrayed throughout the day.
