Mangalore, Jun 29: Sudhir P Ghate, Chairman of Magnum Intergrafiks Limited was installed as the President of Winners Club of Toastmasters International, Mangalore, today along with six other new office bearers of the club.   Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishweshwar Hegade Kageri was the chief guest at the glittering function held at Lance Flavour Resort in the city.

The seven new members took over the charge with each member painting one colour each of the rainbow on the board to represent the 7 vibrant hues of the rainbow. President-elect Sidhir Ghate painted it with red to symbolize energy, enthusiasm, passion and success.

Miniser Vishweshwar Hegde released the newsletter of the Winners Club on the occasion.  Addressing the august gathering the Minister said it was an honour for him to participate in a unique function like the Toastmasters and promised that he would strive to have this similar kind of atmosphere in the various schools in the state.  “The atmosphere I witnessed here has inspired me with the responsibility of creating similar ambience in the schools.  In future, as is already evident now, English language will emerge as an important language the world over.  There is a necessity for youngsters to develop the skills of communicating efficiently in English language from the point of view of career and also to enable them to face the society effectively”, he pointed out.

He further added that any language convey the feelings of the speaker.  Ultimately it is these feelings which find expression in the language that help us to keep active and energetic.  He stressed the need of effective communicating skills to politicians in today’s competitive world.  In a lighter vein he added “if Toastmasters has any plans to of set up a club only for politicians we all will join.  Politicians need to develop their communicative skills to reach out to people effectively”.

Media personality Deepak Thimmayya who addressed the gathering lauded the Winners Club for all their efforts to make communication a easy and better better.  “If the world does not know what the Toastmasters are doing it is the world’s problem and not yours”, he said crisply.  At the same time he called upon the members of the Toastmasters not to get too obsessed with English pronunciation diction, grammers etc., in their effort to speak and communicate in perfect English.

In his acceptance speech Sudhir Ghate pointed out that in this era of television people in different walks of life need to make presentations and speeches in English.  Only Toastmasters can provide such training for the people to develop their communication skills.  “In the present day situation everyone needs to develop communication skills.  Sadly there are no institutions which can impart this kind of training for youngsters.  As an excepoly the Toastmasters club has been striving hard to accomplish this task with finesse”, he assured.

Our warm greetings and best wishes to Mr. Sudhir Ghate and all the new Officers of Winners Club Toastmasters. So many lovely photographs of participants to watch, many of the dear faces are very familiar yet there are many new sweet faces that have blossomed in the recent past that we have not yet met. It is always delightful to have new members that bring new flavour of talents and new skills to the existing garden of roses that have brought so much of name, fame and glamor for Mangalore. Our fond greetings to Dr. Sophia Zacharia and the outgoing team of Club Officers who have done such a fine job for the past term. Keep up the good work, and henceforth we shall try and plan to visit Mangalore during the latter part of June so that we too can take part in your joyful gatherings of Officer installations filled with various new plans and programs for the dynamic leaders and communicators of Mangalore.
