Mumbai, Oct 17: Acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli has extended his support to Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated mythological drama ‘Ramayana Part 1’, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 5 this year.

The ‘Baahubali’ and ‘RRR’ director took to social media to praise the cast and crew for bringing the epic tale to the big screen on a grand scale.

In his latest post on X, Rajamouli said he was delighted to see an Indian film being made on such an ambitious scale and congratulated the team for portraying the timeless characters with depth.

“#Ramayana is a story every Indian storyteller grows up aspiring to tell. It's a joy to see @niteshtiwari22 and @malhotra_namit bring it to the screen on such a grand scale. Each actor brings these timeless characters to life with depth. Looking forward to 5th November. Best wishes to the entire team,” he wrote.

During an earlier appearance on the Empire Film Podcast, Rajamouli shared his thoughts on cinematic adaptations of the Indian epics ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Mahabharata’. He admitted that he had never been entirely satisfied with how the stories had been portrayed on screen.

“I was never fully satisfied with how these epics were presented on screen,” the filmmaker said, while expressing his desire to explore the stories through his own distinctive filmmaking approach.

Co-written by Nitesh Tiwari and Shridhar Raghavan, ‘Ramayana’ features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. Yash, known for the ‘KGF’ franchise, plays Ravana, while Sunny Deol portrays Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey appears as Lakshman.

The film’s ensemble cast also includes Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Arun Govil as King Dashrath, Vivek Oberoi as Vidyutjihva, Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra and Adinath Kothare as Bharat.

The film’s music has been composed by Oscar-winning musicians Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.
