Mangalore, Jun 17: A tempo loaded with plastic goods skidded off the road into a ditch about 30-feet below, beside the national highway near the Netravathi Bridge near Jeppinamogaru, on Wednesday June 17.

The driver and his fellow passenger had a miraculous escape in this incident.

Ravi and Shayan Kumar, residents of Padeel in the city were admitted in a city hospital with minor injuries and later released.

The tempo (KA 19 A 356) was carrying plastic items and was headed towards Kasargod. Half of the tempo was immersed in the water in the ditch which is excess water from the river.

A motorcyclist, who had parked his vehicle near the road to use his cell phone, narrowly missed being involved in the mishap as the tempo swept away the motorbike from where it had been parked.

Eye witnesses said that eroding of the road due to the rains may be the reason for the accident.

Ullal police visited the spot and registered a case in this regard.

These accidents are common. Dont understand whom to blame after seeing the comment from Yoosuf. Infact nobody can help unless govt officials take some initiatives for themselves.

Thses kind of accidents keep on happening….and our governments will not do anything for public. Atleast if they could widen the road, especially from Kallapu till Jeppinamogaru. Also it is very dangerous situation that no proper guardrails on the sides of roads, which may lead any small slip/skid leading to big accident. One more thing to be noticed that our municipality people are sleeping, since long back all chicken stall owners are dumping their wastes near the banks of river…causing too much irritations while passing that area….who is responsible for all these? BJP or Congress….? No, biggest fools we only… Hope dept will do something atleast to prevent this dumping of all bio wastes in public area…
