Mangaluru: St Theresa’s School hosts ‘Skirmish of Squares’ chess tourney

Mangaluru, Jul 26: St Theresa’s School hosted the AICS (Association of ICSE and CBSE schools) Chess Tournament ‘Skirmish of Squares 2019’ on Thursday, July 25.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr Praveen Raj, principal of Alva’s Homeopathy Medical College. The principal of the school Sr Philomene Saldanha, vice principal Sr Lourdes, PTA vice president Charleen Rebimbus, administrator of the Derik Chess School Derick Pinto, and convener of the chess tournament Joseph Rodrigues, were also present.

The closing ceremony was attended by the chief guest Dr Nidarsh D Hegde, consultant surgeon, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and Implantologist, principal, vice principal, vice president of the PTA, Sujith Noronha, traffic management team, Derick Pinto, Joseph Rodrigues and Anitha D’Souza, physical instructor of the chess tournament.



Trophies were bagged by students in the following categories:

1. The Junior Winners’ trophy – B R M Prabhu Centenary Public School, Bantwal
The Junior Runners’ up trophy – Sharada Vidyalaya, Mangaluru

2. The Senior Winners’ trophy – Lourdes Central School, Bejai
The Senior Runners’ up trophy – St Theresa’s School, Bendore
