Mangaluru: International Yoga Day celebrated at Mount Carmel Central School

Mangaluru, Jun 21: International Yoga Day was celebrated by the students and teachers at Mount Carmel Central School with great passion. The chief guest was Shaji Gangadharan, certified Yoga instructor, government of India Ayush Department and manager of Karnataka Bank, Head Office, Mangaluru.

The celebration began with prayer highlighting the significance of the day by the students of class VII. The Principal, Sister Melissa welcomed the chief guest and the PET Praveen Kumar offered a plant sapling to the chief guest, as a token of their appreciation on this meaningful day.

Shaji addressing the students highlighted the importance of yoga and encouraged the students to practice yoga regularly to remain fit and improve the power of concentration. Warming up exercises were done and all the students performed the aasana’s, the importance of these was explained simultaneously. The students performed the Pranayama’s for improving one’s concentration and better health. The PET Melwyn Pinto delivered the vote of thanks.



The students of KG and primary section had separate yoga sessions conducted by teacher Swathi. The students were enthusiastic to perform various aasana’s, knowing their importance and benefits for their holistic health.
