The final year students of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, have accomplished an innovative project titled ‘Blind's Eye.’ This incredible feat was possible under the guidance of Sudarshan K, Associate Professor, and Manjesh R, Assistant Professor, of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The project team comprised of Arpitha, B Bhoomika Bopanna, Chandana K K and Chinmayi.

In this day and age, printed text appears everywhere, causing the blind people to take the help of sighted individuals to buy a product. The blind people constantly require assistance to read printed labels and product packages. To enhance their independent living, final year computer science students from Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT), Valachil, have developed a project called ‘Blind's Eye’ using Python programming language.

This project uses a camera to capture the product image and gives an audio output regarding the information on the product. The audio contains information like name of the product, weight and price. This system is aimed to serve as a shopping aid.

The principal, Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D and Head of CSE Department, Dr Shivakumar G S have commended the students and the professors on this achievement.
