Udupi: 40th year of Milagres English medium kindergarten school Kallianpur inaugurated

Udupi, Jun 4: Milagres English Medium School Kallianpur is known for quality and value based education for over four decades. This academic year 2019-20 marks the 40th year of the birth of Milagres kindergarten school which began way back in 1979 through the toil and effort of two visionaries namely late Fr G L Da Cruz and Thecla Pereira.

Milagres Kindergarten took birth in Kallianpurwith just 12 students in small shed in 1979. Under thespirited work of the founders the student strength of the school increased to 40 in two years (1980).

The perseverance of Thecla Pereira along with Veera Furtado her colleague confirmed by thebenevolent gaze of Our Lady of Miracles, the school proposed to make a mark.

This important milestone was commemorated on May 29 near here on the reopening day of the school. On the occasion of the inauguration of the Ruby (40) Jubilee a new Entrance gate also was inaugurated. Thecla Pereira, founder Headmistress was the guest of honour to inaugurate the Entrance gate. Fr Dr Baptist Menezes, vicar general and vice president of Catholic Institutions of Udupi district was the chief guest.

The programme began with the grand escort of dignitaries by the school band. Thecla Pereira joyfully cut the ribbon to inaugurate the new entrance gate. This was followed by devotional prayer dance by primary students and prayer service by high school students. At the end of the prayer service Fr Dr Baptist Menezes conducted the blessing ceremony of the gate.

The tiny tots of Kindergarten accorded a colourful welcome to the guests through their welcome dance proving that they are no less to their seniors and that this was their rejoicing event. Dr Fr Lawrence D’Souza, correspondent of Milagres Institutions hoisted the school flag and inaugurated the new academic year 2019-20.

During this event, three talented students of the school who excelled at national level were felicitated by the guests along with their proud parents. Ms Bhoomika (U-14 State Girls Volleyball Team member), Yaksha (U-14 State Girls Volleyball Team member) who participated in National Level at Shirdi in Maharastra and Mohd Anas who participated in National Level Karate at Assam were honoured.

Further, Thecla the first headmistress was honoured for her tireless and dedicated service. It was a blessing and pleasure to have 89 year lady to commemorate 40 years of the birth of the school. In her speech, she thanked God and all her colleagues for giving their support. She advised the kids to enjoy school and build character more than knowledge.

Chief guest Fr Dr Baptist Menezes in his message praised and lauded the work of the present Headmaster and congratulated the Correspondent and staff of Milagres for their dedicated service and for organising the event. He invited the students to make the school their home. He narrated a story and thrilled the students.

Fr Dr Lawrence D’Souza, the Correspondent, in his address congratulated and wished the school well. He said that this event was an important milestone to rejoice and strive even more. Though Milagres is one of the best schools in Udupi it can still improve and become the best.

Dr Neri Cornelio, vice president of Milagres Pastoral Parishad, Gregory and Mr Owin Rodrigues, members of the Management Committee, Veera D’Silva, headmistress of primary school were present on the dais.

Renita and Shwetha, energetic staff of kindergarten school compered the programme. Fr Lancy Fernandes SJ welcomed the gathering and Mrs VeeraD’Silva rendered the vote of thanks. .

The programme ended with the school anthem and sweets were distributed to all students.
