Mangaluru, May 28: Students of first standard in Shakthi Residential School were taught alphabets in traditional methods. Parents kept rice in a plate in front of the idol of Sharada and made children write ‘Om’ on it to start classes. Parents took part in large number in the programme held in the leadership of school principal Vidya Kamath.

The principal in the hall programme held later gave information to parents about academic and extracurricular activities in the school. Swathi Bharath welcomed. Deepti rendered vote of thanks. Poornima R Shetty compered the programme.

Shakthi Education Trust administrator Bykady Janardhan Achar explained the motto of the institute. “Education does not mean only marks but formation of humanity should be in progress there. Teaching of human values should be included in curricular and extracurricular activities. Therefore, Yoga, meditation, recitation of prayers and their meaning will be provided here,” he said.

Trust’s chief advisor, Ramesh K, development officer Nasim Banu, Shakthi PU College principal Prabhaker G S and Gopalakrishna pre-primary school head Nirmala Saxena were on the dais.
