Mangalore, Mar.16:
A  lover couple that  had  been to a movie in a cinema hall here could enact a great  escape from the vigilant eyes of the moral police,  when  the real  police  came on the scene at the Central  talkies in  city  on  Monday, March 16.

Moral policemen from Sri Rama Sene had planned to 'question’ the couple that had been to watch the movie in the above movie hall located near Hampanakatta.

Sene members believed the couple to be belonging to different religions. But the policemen clarified, that both of them were Hindus.

It is believed that someone who watched the lovers inside the theatre passed on the information to Sri Rama Sene activists. The Sene members were waiting outside the theatre premises, for the show to end so that they could interrogate the couple concerned once they come out of the hall.

But the Mangalore North police inspector Umesh Shet, who deputed constables inside the theatre, ensured that the two were safely taken to the police station, to stop any unsavoury incidents from happening, thus nipping in the bud a brewing trouble..

The couple could stage an escape from the ire of the Sri Rama Sene or action by them, because of the intervention of the policemen. Police inspector Umesh Shet said, the policemen got information about the above incident and thereafter, steps were taken to control the situation.

The couple was from a technical training institute from the city.  They had been to Central talkies to watch the recently released Kannada comedy movie 'Venkata in Sankata’

Padmanabha Shenoy, a reply to your question as to how would one deal with his sister or daughter who is in college and goes for a movie with her boyfriend. This depends on the family who has raised their daughter/sister, if they are peace loving human beings and love their family very much, then they would deal in an understanding way by talking to them and sort the issue out amicably. If they have a terrorist mind, they would probably shoot their daughter or sister and if they are scared of the RSS, they would allow them to intervene in their family issues. Which category do you belong to - a loving family, a terrorist or RSS. One more advice to those who are so narrow minded about their daughters and sisters, they should not allow them to go to schools or university, in fact they should get them married off when they reach womanhood. Then the RSS would also not have to run to theatres, pubs and gardens and make problems.

From Mr. Shenoys views one thiing is sure...before girls were cursed because everyone feared dowry nowadays everyone fears about Rama Sene... so the best way is not have a girl child..that means you dont have a mother ..you dont have a wife..nor you have a sister... and ofcourse you dont need their brothers to moral police.... one more thing if my sister does something like that I would definitely like to talk to her and solve the matter rather than moral monkeys thrashing her in public...

You know how brutally some people murdered Lancy Permannur recently by a mistaken identity for falling in love with a Muslim girl. Their logic is simple they can give a rose to my sister, but I can’t talk to their sister.

Luckily Hindu fanatics never murdered any youth from other community for the same reason. If you respect women of your community on the pretext of holy book then why can’t you apply same method towards the other community females. Do you call it as friendship a married man of 28 years eloping a 15 year old girl ?

How many Ashwitha, Vamshi, Saumya Bhat, Akshatha’s we have to scarify to fulfill some peoples lust ? Then what you find openness of Emiraties in this issue ? Are they offering their girls to romance with you ?

There is a point with what Thilak shetty thinks. He is not totally wrong. Out of 1000 , there are 50 cases of inter-religion marriages between Catholics and Hindus in the undevided South Canara. The good example of Ritesh and Raksha D'souza was shown in the NDTV last week as mentioned by Mr. Shetty. Prior to that there was one more documentary regarding to moral policing in Mangalore in the same channel which showed "joint operation " of both BD and a Catholic group to save a Catholic girl from the boy of other community. So before commenting about moral policing one should think if he has moral rights to comment about it..!!!

They were just left to walk off in search of some other innocent victims? If no stern action is taken against these anti-social elements things will not improve. Couples may have to seek permission from them to go out in public. I urge upon the GENTLEMAM DC to teach all these elements a lesson so that they mind their own business(which they actually do not have) and let the people of Mangalore live in peace. Since they have tasted the blood, they might be looking out for a prey again and again.

Mr. Thilak Shetty, Just education does not mean you can pen a few English words? Are you aware of Islam & the role of women in it? Then please read the Quran. It will surely enlighten you on the virtues of Muslim way of life. Women in Islam does not mean Just Burqa, its much more than that. By the way Burqa in islam is not only for women but its concept is applicable to even Men.

Whatever you might have noticed or are referring to is moreover Male domination on women. By the way burqa is a modest dress to cover ones features & not any form to restrict her activity. Why even Hinduism has the concept of Burqa but its praticised in a different manner.

Been in Dubai, you should be well aware of how open minded the Sheikh of Dubai is. By the way Study tours etc are conducted by college & what is the need for you fringe groups to object it? If you have watched NDTV “ Give back my night...and my day” what does the lady of your community say? She says she is scared to walk in Mangalore wearing Jeans? Is it due to Muslims?

Great job indeed by the police. However, I would like to note again that this is not the mian job of the police. Here the main issue is Rama Sena making their own law and trying to enforce it. The appropriate action would be to punish those who do this and also prevent them from doing this. Unless this action is not taken, these incidents will keep happening and not in all cases the police can act like in the current event.

Actually this is not moral policing. Ramasena is targeting a particular community. Because that community restricts their community girls from social life and same time they are happy in mingling with other community girls in the name of social life, friendship, study tour etc. Hindu fanatics never troubled Christian youths for mingling with Hindu girls, because Christian girls also have same freedom like Hindu girls. Yesterday I watched a special programme in NDTV, where they showed a Hindu girl & Christian couple happily living in an Hindu dominated area even after objection from their respective family for their marriage.

What is happening to Mangalore? Why are people making an issue when a boy and girl belonging to different religion are in love? Does that mean the Ramsena/Bajrang Dal are going to stop or ban inter-religion marriages?

Good work on the part of Police, who saved the innocent couple. However appriciate action should have been initiated against the so called moral police who were waiting outside the theater, why not they were taken to police station and questioned on their illegal intention..?

The authorities should stop moral policing at once. It will not be too late if all youth will start to carry pistol with them and just shoot this moral police once and for all. Before its too late authorities please wake up. Do not make Mangalore like US.

Good vigilance by the police but no details about what was done to SRS members ? Did the police not warn them not to involve in public's personal affairs ? Or.. were they let go to continue with their business harassing some other couple ?

Thank god...the policemen for once were doing their duty...wish every cop does his duty the same way...What's wrong with these people? Can't even go to cinema hall?....high time something stringent comes out or else...both the BJP and Congress will have no takers...Third front will be a reality...The best solution is take all the radical Hindu Iislamic and other whatsoever religion fanatics into a prison and beat them to the pulp...saying first be humans then country and then religion...
