Daiji Dubai Decennial Celebrations to Conclude in Gala Event on Apr 17

Dubai, Mar 14: Daiji Dubai, Konkani writers forum, will complete 10 glorious years in April, and a gala event has been planned to celebrate the occasion.

Throughout the decennial year Daiji Dubai has organized nine cultural events in Dubai and Mangalore. The recent national-level drama competition was one of the highlights and witnessed a huge response from theatre enthusiasts.

The closing ceremony is to be held at the Sheik Rashid Auditorium of the Indian High School here. The event will begin at 5 pm and will last for about four hours.

The highlights of the event will be a ‘Comedy Circus’, featuring Konkani super comedians from Mangalore and Dubai including Jerry Rasquinha, Joseph Pinto (Duje), Nellu Permannur, and Alwyn Veigas. To add glamour to the show, Mumbai's ace comedian-singer Kenny will also join the Comedy Circus.

Excellent Konkani music will form another segment of the entertainment with music maestro Adrian Gomes leading the musical show with young singer Rony D’Cunha from Kuwait, Anita Samson from Mangalore, and ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore’ Vinay Lewis from Kuwait will entertain the crowd with melodious Konkani numbers.

Local artistes Dony Correa and Asha Fernandes, and Goan singer Maria will join the musical team.

  • Daiji Dubai annual award will be presented to Dolphy Cascia with a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a memento, and a citation
  • Daiji Dubai ‘Yuva Puroskar’ will be presented to up-and-coming young playwright, director, and actor Nellu Permannur
  •  Prominent personalities of the Middle East will be felicitated for their contributions to Konkani language and people
  • Free entry tickets will be offered to senior citizens over the age of 70
