Thank you readers: Rs 3.8 lac pours in for 8-month old Skyler, gives him hope

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Feb 12: Kudos to Daijiworld Readers. We are here again to appreciate the fact that you have shown your commitment to humanitarian values. An appeal posted in Daijiworld seeking help for little Skyler, who was in need of liver transplant surgery has given a ray of new hope to the family, as help totaling Rs 3,80,000 has poured in from all over the world.

Now, Skyler will undergo surgery on February 19 at Kokila Ben Hospital, Andheri west, Mumbai under the observation of Dr Somanath Chattopadhyaya, consultant and head of the Department HPB and Liver Transplant. Snehal the mother of Skyler will be the donor of liver.

Skyler suffers from Extra hepatic Biliary Atresia, an ailment which causes abnormal accumulation of bile in the liver. Due to this problem, the one-month-old baby had to immediately undergo Kasai Procedure (surgery to reconstruct the bile ducts and restore bile flow). The parents of Skyler were hopeful that after the surgery he will recover and will not have to suffer anymore.

Recalling the information about Skyler, the parents said they were shattered to hear that their baby had to undergo a liver transplant to survive. The liver transplant will cost a staggering Rs 20,00,000 and they desperately sought generous help to afford it for their eight month old.

Patrick, the father of baby, works as a driver and although they barely manage to make ends meet, they still try to keep some money aside for their son’s future. The couple already used up all their savings to get his first surgery done. In our reality check they were found to be struggling to pay for the mounting medical bills. It is even more difficult as none of the family members is ready to support them as they had married against their wishes.

We at Daijiworld, once again extend our gratitude to our readers who have supported a good cause, financially and through prayers. We thank our generous readers who have time and again supported the needy and given a new lease of life to so many. Your steady support helps Daijiworld to keep up the spirit of humanity high. God bless us all.
