Bangalore, Dec 29: The chief minister is understood to have made his displeasure felt about the inefficiency of certain departments, based on the feedback he got during his interaction with the voters and local leaders while on campaigning for the by-poll. He has already discussed the issue with his close confidants and is likely conduct major surgery in key portfolios to improve the performance of the state government during January.

The heads of all the departments have been asked to submit lists of officials who have not been entrusted with any responsibilities after being relieved from their earlier positions. The departments have also been asked to submit report on the implementation of the budgetary programmes, reasons for delay etc. The chief minister has also sought the details of amounts spent and grants received, from each of the constituencies.

Yeddyurappa, who thought that the people had a positive outlook of the state government, was surprised by the negative opinions he got during the canvassing. He wants to establish the confidence of the people in the government before the Loksabha election and to shift officers and staff who have failed to properly respond to the government initiatives to achieve progress and implement people-friendly programmes affectively.  Even some of the ministers may be moved, it is learnt. He is also gearing up to strongly resist the attempts the opposition might make to floor the government on various issues including the one relating to violating code of conduct and releasing of funds, in the ensuing assembly session.
