Mangalore: ‘Hemanta Kavana Sinchana’ Held at St Aloysius High School

Mangalore, Dec 25: ‘Hemanta Kavana Sinchana’ was held at St Aloysius High School recently.

The event was organized by the Kannada Sahitya Sangh of the school and Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Sahitya Parishat. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president, Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, inaugurated the programme.

Participating as the chief guest, Fr Francis Serrao, delivered the keynote address on the occasion.

Dr N D Shetty, head of department, Kannada, St Aloysius School, said that writing poetry and conducting poet’s meets are welcomed. The films directed by Nagatihalli Chandrashekar have contemporary life pictured in the songs, he said.

Presiding over the poet’s conference, Dr Saraswati, lecturer, Kannada department, St Aloysius College, criticized the poems of various poets.

Dr Saraswati, Janardhan Hande, Gunaje Ramachandra Bhat, Donald Saldahna, Felcy Pinto, Prajwal Sharma, Vasumitra, Ritin Montero, Farooq Muhammad, Harshraj, Prashant M R, Arun Ullal, Tulasiraj, Latish, Anushree, Wilma Laveena D’Souza, and Nitish Kumar, rendered their poetry on the occasion.

Gunage Ramachandra Bhat, organizing convener, poet’s conference, welcomed the gathering. Prajwal co-ordinated the programme and Bharat Kumar M P proposed the vote of thanks.

N Srinivas Prabhu and Melvin Pinto, headmaster, St Aloysius High School, were present on the occasion.
