Mangalore, Nov 10: MP and state president of the BJP D V Sadanand Gowda (DVS) opined that indulging in low level political gimmicks does not behave the status of a legislator and such incidents signify that the concerned are intoxicated by power.

Speaking after inaugurating the new office of the Kurnad zilla panchayat constituency unit of the BJP at Amardeep Complex Mudipu and a meet of the party workers there on Sunday November 9, he ridiculed the local MLA for laying a foundation stone for an unknown project recently.

The MLA also inaugurated the power transformer sanctioned to the Navagrama of Balepuni village before the date fixed for its inauguration, DVS noted.. "We are not bothered by what he has done. Let him not switch on electrical equipments without the notice of the Mescom officials and get shocks," he commented. He assured the people that the government is doing everything within its command including getting power from Chattigarh, Bellary, Varahi etc. to tide-over the present power crisis. "Our aim is to provide three-phase to power to each and every house in the state," he declared.

District-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar said that the government has restrained forceful land acquisition. The Congress had treated the toddy tappers of the district as merely its vote bank but failed to address their problems. The BJP government has released them from the provisions of the Excise Act, to mitigate their problems, he said. He also assured the private bus operators not to get worried over the introduction of government buses, as the government buses will ply in the routes in which the private operators are hesitant to run services for the reason of not being economical, he clarified.

BJP district president Monappa Bhandary presided. Various party leaders like ex-MLA Padmanabh Kottary, general secretary Mohan Rao etc. were present. A bike rally preceded the meet.

If the local MLA’s do not participate in the local function or inauguration who else will do it. How can the local MLA can keep in touch with the local people? This is one of the opportunities for the MLA to interact & understand with people.

Politicians will lower their level when their thinking becomes fanatic and prejudice but not attending the function whether it is Govt. sponsored or local body sponsored. Might be DVS is feeling insecure when the local MLA position becomes stronger in their constituency.
