'Twilight on the Pier!' in Santa Monica to feature Indian performers

New Delhi, Oct 5 (IANS): Santa Monica, known for its year-round events and concerts, has come up with a concert with an Indian touch to it. Twilight on the Pier!, an outdoor music festival in its 34th year, will see performances by Indian performers such as Vidya Vox and South Asian Sounds.

To be held on Sunday at Pier promenade in Santa Monica, the 2018 series will have performances by unique artists from around the world, making it "a truly Local Meets Global experience", said a statement.

Each night of the series will be a Pier-wide festival, complete with immersive art, food offerings, a beer and spirits garden, games and interactive activations all along the venue.

The main stage will see the performance by Red Baraat - a Punjabi Parade/New Orleans-style Bollywood Brass.

Also at the main stage, Vidya Vox will bring influences of her Indian-American heritage to create music that is refreshingly new, unique and contemporary, seamlessly fusing together the intricacies of Indian music with elements of electronic and hip-hop for an undeniably catchy sound.

The West End Stage will see performance by DJ Rekha, a producer, curator, educator and 'Ambassador of Bhangra' based in New York City. Her music fuses Indian genre of bhangra music with international hip-hop and drum beats.

There will also be Pacific Park Stage that will witness performance by Discostan. The performance has been titled "Beirut to Bangkok via Bombay".
