It is totally Bhrahminotsava. There is huge community of fishermen who would have contributed more to the cultural part in the function.

The march past by the police in the 3rd photo clearly shows that they have either forgotten how to march or they are too lazy to march. Their knees are bent forward rather than keeping them straight. its better they be sent to Russia or china to learn how to march. HOW DISGUSTING IT IS. .....

It is very sad when people see "brahminism" in a simple regular Karnataka rajyotsava based on the comments on this article. I think it is important to see communalism (not communism) when it is communal and it is equally important to see it plainly when it is not. I don't see any of it in this article. If we, the people, the readers fail to discern this, it makes the unity of the region very fragile and make the region less secular.

Considering the terrible state of affiairs in Udupi as regards to vegetative cover/shade, sewage and solid waste disposal road maintenance and repair traffic management and control and a total neglect of Safety-related issues at all levels, as representing "smaller Udupi" one may wonder how horrible the environment in Greater Udupi would turn out to be.

Is it "Rajyotsava" or "Brahminotsava"? Where are the other community representatives?

When the world is changing their government culture to secular surprised to note the Rajyotsava function, organiised by the district administration here looks more like religious. We do agree cultural dances as it is part of Karnataka tradition. If doctors like V.S.Achar is trying the dominance of braminisation he will loose it as the present young boys and girls are more exposed through TV, internet and nobody can control it. The more secular outlook the govt. brings out, the better the confidence of all people. Otherwise people within the family will hate each other than other community.
