Udupi: Two-day National Conference of VCs from Technical Universities

Udupi, Oct 11: Manipal Institute of Technology(MIT) will be hosting a two-day conference of vice-chancellors of technical univerisities from the country on Saturday October 11 and the next day. The conference will be held in the library auditorium of the MIT.

Giving this information at a press conference, Dr S S Pabla, chairman of the Conference Reception Committee informed, that the conference would aim at drafting a framework for the AICTE curriculum.   The conference will also make an effort towards striking a consensus on a 10-point cumulative grade point average system in all the engineering colleges in the country. This is in tune with the internationally accepted practices, he stated.



The vice-chancellors are also scheduled to discuss the grouse of industrialists that the rate of employability of the engineering graduates in India is very low.

Subjects like striking a balance between academicians and employees by bringing them on a single platform to improve the cirriculum, prividing a stable Board of Studies for each stream, increasing basic sciences and humanities content in engineering curriculum, facilitating inter-university and inter-discipline mobility etc., will also come up for consideration.

The conference will also be addressed by Manipal University chancellor Dr Ramdas M Pai.

    A good initiative by MIT. A common 10 point system 4 all Engg. coolleges will ensure uniformity & comparablity.
