Mangalore, Oct 10: The increasing number of terrorist activities in the coastal belt have made the police more cautious in their approach. They were worried, when a suitcase was found to have been abandoned by unknown persons on the national highway 17 at Uchila near Mahalakshmi temple on Thursday Oct 9 at around 3 pm.

The police officials of Padubidri police station arrived on the spot immediately to investigate into the contents of the suitcase. The policemen tried to get information about the abandoned suitcase through various means. After a prolonged wait and failing to make any headway on the issue, Yogeesh, a policeman attached to Padubidri police station, made a bold decision to take risk, and opened the suitcase. The public and the policemen, who were suspecting it to contain bomb or explosives, were both surprised and relieved to find that it contained clothes, money purse, ATM cards, driving licence, mobile charger etc.,

The suitcase is the misplaced property of Ganesh, son of Sidde Gowda of Chennarayapatna in Hassan district, the policemen found from the address on the driving licence. The inflow of information consistently about the terrorist activities in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district from the intelligence department has made the general public gittery and over-cautious. They get nervous at the sight of any abandoned object.

It is suspected, that the suitcase, loaded in the boot or roof of a car on a pilgrimage, slipped and fell off on to the road.
