Mangalore, Aug 30: In the aftermath of the stabbing incident that occured on the night of Thursday August 28, other than a couple of stone pelting incidents that occured in the morning of Friday August 29 at Jokatte and Bajpe Shantigudde, the situation remained peaceful.

People, bothered by frequent disturbances and bandhs, are keen to have a peaceful life. Everyone wants to lead a normal life, free from unnecessary tensions and disturbances. It may be recalled, that prohibitory orders have been clamped in Bajpe region till midnight today and additional forces had been rushed to assist the local policemen to maintain order. Tahsildar Raju Mogaveera will camp at Bajpe to ensure that undesireable elements do not take advantage of the fragile situation.

The policemen are on the look out for the miscreants involved. District in charge minister Krishna J Palemar visited Parlia in B C Road, where trouble mongers had attacked a local tailor named Bhaskar on Wednesday August 27. Bhaskar's family members shared their deep anguish over the attack with the minister, saying that Bhaskar had done nothing wrong to be targetted by criminals. They also came down heavily on the government officials expected to maintain law and order. They alleged, that the policemen have no so far arrested the real culrpits in connection with the setting their shop and car on fire but are trying to shirk from their responsibilities by charging some dummies.

The minister assured the family, that he would meet the treatment expenses of both Bhaskar Tailor and Anil Kumar from Bajpe, who were injured.

The policemen clarified, that they have not made any arrests in the incident so far. They are on the trail of the persons incolved, they said. Inspector general of police(IGP) A M Prasad and superintendent of police Sateesh Kumar visited the house of Bhaskar Tailor on the night of Thursday, August 28.

In the meanwhile, Congress legislators from the district Ramanath Rai, U T Khader and Abhaychandra Jain met the IGP on Friday August 29 and discussed with him the unsavoury incidents that have occured in the district in the recent past. They urged him to arrest those who are involved in the incidents without fear or favour and take stern action against them, to see that people do not doubt the integrety or capacity of the police forces.
