Mangalore: Renowned Short Story Writer M Vyasa No More

Mangalore, Jul 24: M Vyasa (67), considered to be one of the best Kannada short story writers of the century, breathed his last at about 3 pm at his residence in Madhur Mannippadi in Kasargod district on Wednesday July 23.

He was taking rest after lunch, when he complained of chest pain that was caused through cardiac arrest, and breathed his last soon thereafter. He is survived by wife, a son and two daughters.

A stream of dignitaries, writers, fans and Kannada activists visited his residence to pay their last respects to the noble soul.

Kambani and Krutha(compilations of short stories), mini novel titled 'Snana', collection of poems 'Kshetra' and 'Suli' and collection of rational write-ups 'Janapatha',  are some of the publications from this famed writer.  Vyasa, who also was a noted columnist, authored more than 500 short stories and poems. He is known to be an author with different ideas who gave a new dimension to the sphere of short stories. He was also in the forefront in the pro Kannada activities in Kasargod.
