M'lore: Foundation Stone Laid for Infant Jesus Shrine at Bajpe

Mangalore, Jul 23:
Fr Mathias Pereira, parish priest of St Joseph’s church, Bajpe, laid the foundation stone for the construction of an Infant Jesus shrine at Souharda Nagar in Bajpe, recently.

The shrine will be come up on a 0.75 acre plot allotted by the government for the benefit of the faithful who were displaced due to the acquisition of their lands for infrastructure development of Bajpe International Airport.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Pereira said that the devotion of Infant Jesus should grow for peace and harmony to reign in society. The construction of the shrine will soon be realized with generous contributions from donors and the support of the local devotees. 
 
Fr Anil D’Silva blessed the construction site on the occasion. Kandavar gram panchayat president, Kolambe gram panchayat members, former panchayat president and members, office-bearers of various social service and voluntary organizations, local leaders belonging to other religions, zilla and taluk panchayat members, and a large number of parishioners were also present.

 
Parish council secretary, David D’Souza, briefed the audience about the proposed shrine while parish council vice-president, Sylvester D’Souza, proposed the vote of thanks.
