Mangalore: Ore Trucks in News Yet Again for Wrong Reasons

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jul 23: Traffic on national highway 17 has been thrown out of gear yet again, because of the same culprits, iron ore-laden trucks. Since the last two days, hundreds of trucks have lined up by the side of the highway, creating all kinds of nuisances to the road users.

The ore tracks have been blatantly violating the orders of the district deputy commissioner, banning their parking on the highway. They were instructed to park the truck on the inner roads around the port but the trucks have occupied half the road at Panambur, Mukka, Baikampady and Tannirbavi areas, posing multifarious problems to other vehicles.

Route buses and also those belonging to schools and colleges have been suffering because of undue delays. Passengers travelling between Mangalore and Udupi are put to lot of inconveniences. The district administration, by showing disinclination to implement its orders, has given rise to doubts in the minds of the citizens of the twin districts about its commitment. The passengers are also seen venting their ire against the government for its inability to check the iron ore transportation menace. The truck drivers say, the departmental order asking them to hand over the chit issued by the way bridge at the Mukka check post has complicated the matter further.

Provide parking area for those trucks and limit the maximum load and speed. If possible construct new track for ore trucks.Supply mask to local people to cover their nose. Anyhow we should bear these difficulties because we are silent people and Govt is running from those mining lords. Imagine what would have happened in Kerala or other states if the same situation exists there!!

I do not think any one one can do anything about this as the strings are pulled from Bengalooru. How come every one has forgotten that the current government has been entirely funded by the mining lobby and to add insult the mining magnates are also ministers! Can any one do anything about it .The answer is a clear no!

oops .. same problem again.. what are the loacal MLA's doing..? do they have idea of wats happening in Mangalore? its sad that no action has been takin in this regards.... these trucks should not be allowed to enter the city durin the day time they create huge nuisence to the public... time shld be spacfied fr these trucks to enter the city.... Strict action should be takin if these vehicles are found violating the rule.... whats the RTO doing.?? are they getting a huge share in this business.

I knew they are getting monthly token for this .. but now it looks like they are getting a higher share for being blind on the above scenario..??? we the helmet rule was implemented ..We could see traffic police..all over the place to fine people.... but now these people are blind..? Why cant the concerned authorities book these wrongly parked vehicles... ?? That ways govt met will get revenue.... I feel converting this area as no parkin zone is best solution... is it the same in case of Karwar..? or is it only with Mangalore?
