Mangalore: MRPL Donates Endoscopy Unit to Wenlock Hospital

Mangalore, Jul 21:  Endoscopy equipments worth about Rs 76 lac were donated by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) to the newly-formed Regional Advanced Paediatric Care Centre (RAPCC) of the government Wenlock Hospital in the city on Sunday July 20. MRPL managing director Rajamani symbolically handed over these equipments to the district in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar held on Sunday at the hospital premises.

Palemar who hailed MRPL's gesture, said that the government aims to develop the centre into a model one. All vacancies in the RAPCC would soon be filled up to enable it to function to its full capacity, he promised.

DK district deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao said that the RAPCC is expected to get ISO-9001 certification soon and that efforts are being made to achieve this distinction.

Mangalore south MLA N Yogish Bhat, paediatrician Dr Shantaram Baliga and paediatric surgeon Dr Ganesh Pai were present. The equipments donated include Bronchoscope, esophagoscope, neuro endoscope, colonoscope, sigmoid scope and systoscope that would be utilized to diagnosing and treating varios diseases in children upto 18 years of age.

Poor children are provided with advanced treatment free of charge at RAPCC. Endoscopy department of the centre is headed by Dr K Ganesh Pai.
