Bangalore: Govt Does not Maintain Records About Parentage of Employees!

Bangalore, Jul 19: After the public prosecutor clarified that the government does not follow the practice of preserving records peratining to its employees including their parentage, the state High Court on Friday July 19, instructed the cheif secretary of State government to furnish to it through an affidavit, the guidelines followed by the government as regards maintenance of records pertaining to Karntaka Administrative Services (KAS) officers.

Siddaiah and Chowdamma couple, said to be the parents of Tumkur sub-divisional officer S Suresh who is a KAS cadre officer, had died in a road accident in the year 2003. New India Assurance Company was to settle claims thereon in favour of Suresh.

In the meantime, Suresh's aunt approached a court of law through an application, claiming that the deceased couple were not the real parents of Suresh. When the court wanted to know who were recorded as Suresh's parents in his service records, the prosecution lawyer said that such records are not preserved by the government.

Justice N Kumar thereafter, directed for issuance of a notice to the state chief secretary as above.
