Ajman: Gulf Medical College Approved as Gulf Medical University

Ajman, Jul 13: Gulf Medical University is a private university that has evolved from the Gulf Medical College, which came into existence by Decree No. 1, dated 28 January, issued by His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman and Member of the Supreme Council, UAE promoted by THUMBAY GROUP with effect from 1st July 2008.

PROGRAMS OFFERED BY GULF MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

GMCA is the first institution to have introduced the Summer Training Program for its students. The Conference Secretariat at the college has been a pioneer in organizing many conferences and scientific events over the last eight years. The college is one of the first medical schools to have published a Health Magazine, which is in its ninth year of publication.

Gulf Medical University is glad to announce several programs planned to start in the forth coming academic year subject to approval from Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The enquiries for the following programs have already started,

Organization Structure and Provost of Gulf Medical University

The management of GMC has upgraded the Organizational structure of GMC and also appointed Prof.  Gita Ashok Raj as the Provost of the Gulf Medical University. Many more highly qualified personnel have been redesignated to senior positions in the new University Structure.


Facilities and Infrastructure at GMU


GMU Information and Learning centre is striving to be a leading Medical Library in the region. The purpose - built unit covers a huge area on two floors incorporating a Computer Laboratory having 80 terminals with 2 multimedia labs and internet browsing facilities; Medline for viewing and printing research abstracts; Medical databases for viewing articles (full text with figures) covering 400 journals; and hard copies of other journals covering all areas of basic and clinical sciences; Current titles of text books, Reference books and Monographs. Wireless connectivity in the whole campus provides access to both the internet and intranet resources for students and faculty.


Gulf Medical University will also have its own convention centre to conduct international conferences and seminars. GMU will also provide students a state of the art gymnasium separately for boys and girls as a franchise of Body and Soul Health Club & Spa.

Research Activities & GMU Research Division


All clinical departments are been encouraged to initiate and take up research activities in collaboration with national and international institutions. The GMU Research Division will serve as a means of focusing, coordinating, and collaborating the efforts of scholars in basic and clinical sciences from the departments of GMC Hospital & Research Centre and Gulf Medical University Ajman. 

The aim is to promote close, short and long-term cooperation between several outstanding scientists from within the country and abroad in specific research projects. The division will soon have a dedicated facility and a dedicated team of experts led by the Director of the Research Division. GMU Research Division welcomes and invites scientists and doctors from other institutions to utilize the facilities and conduct joint research activities. 
 
GMU Simulation Center


GMU Simulation Center aims to promote excellence in Clinical Care, Advance Patient Safety initiatives and improve multidisciplinary team performance through broad application of simulation in a safe, controlled and realistic environment.


The Center shall host a state-of-the-art Medical Simulation Technology. The set up has a Delivery Suite with a full body Pregnancy Simulator and an Infant Simulator, an Adult ICU Simulation Room with a SimMan and a Community Simulation Room all with Audio-Video & Multi Media control rooms and class rooms. Besides this low fidelity simulators like Resusci Anne & Baby, Airway Management Trainer, LP Simulator & others will be available for hands-on-training of basic clinical skills.

Thumbay Moideen Founder President, Gulf Medical University visited the Rulers Court and informed His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Ruler of Ajman about the approval of Gulf Medical University and the progress of the institution and mentioned the future goals and plans of the newly formed university.
