Udupi, Dec 6: Actor-director Raj B Shetty of ‘Ondu Motteya Kathe’ is all set to play the lead role of Naseer alias Gandhi in a new film ‘Fiction’ by students, fresh graduates and professionals of Manipal School of Communication.

The role is not related to Indian history or politics. The shooting of the film is under process and the film is expected to release by the end of 2018.

“Gandhi is a character very close to my heart. He is humane, beautiful and deep. Completely different from what I have worked on before,” said Raj speaking about the character. The character which is totally contrasting from the one he played in his previous movie is catching attention of people, and the video has received a lot of positive feedback and remarks, and his fans are eager to hear more about the movie.

‘Fiction’ is an experimental movie. The movie is said to be in the format of ‘stories inside a story’ and is uniquely bilingual. The first half of the movie will be in monochrome and in Malayalam and second half in colour and in English, and is based on the concept of ‘Perceived Reality’. The movie is crowd funded and is set for an estimated budget of Rs 6 lac.

The director of the movie Rahul Menon, speaking about Raj he said, “We met Raj through Praveen, the editor and cinematographer of Ondu Motteya Kathe and I instantly felt that he had the vibes of Gandhi. He agreed at the first approach to act in the movie, despite our low experience. He is really a humble actor.” When asked about theatrical release, producer Nishmitha Biliya said, “We are focusing on making the movie first. The rest will be decided later.”

The key attraction from the promo was the theme song of Gandhi, which was produced by Sean Gonsalves, Sanath Balkur and Joel Dias from the drum and bass trio ‘Noizbleed’ who are also the music directors of the movie, and speaking about it they said, “We sat all night figuring out ideas, we were not satisfied, so we slept for two hours, woke up, discarded all the projects and remade this track fresh and we are totally happy about it.” Speaking about Raj, Sean said, “Raj is one of the most humble persons I have ever met and was easy to record as he knew exactly what to do. I have not seen a dedicated actor like him.”

A month ago, the character promo of ‘Maya’ was released, but the promo of ‘Gandhi’ has surpassed the views of the previous video overnight.

Speaking about the team, Raj said “Chicken Sambar Productions is a team of passionate filmmakers than I ever will be.”
