Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jul 4: A consumer from Moodigere in Chikmagalur taluk succeeded in getting an order in his favour from the District Consumer Redressal Forum here, in respect of a defective Ford Icon ZXI Ford car bought by him from Cauvery Ford show room in Mangalore in the year 2002.

The complainant in the year 2004, approached the Forum stating that the company had supplied to him a car with manufacturing defects, as a result of which tyres of the vehicle witnessed uneven wear. He said, the company, whenever approached with the problem, replaced the tyres of the car without conceding the fact that the car suffered from manufacturing defects.

The company on it's side, relied on the argument that the car was used roughly in hilly terrain of Chikmagalur district by the buyer. But the court was not inclined to buy this argument. It has asked the branch manager of the show room in Mangalore and the General Manager of Cauvery Motors Bangalore to refund the entire cost of the vehicle together with a compensationof Rs.11,000 as litigation expenses to the buyer.
