M'lore: Private Hospitals Join Govt in Battle against Chikungunya

Mangalore, Jul 2: State rural development and panchayatraj minister Shobha Karandlaje announced here on Tuesday July 1 that an arrangement has been entered into by the government for private participation in its war against Chikungunya and other infectious diseases in the district.

She said that medical college hospitals have come forward to lend their might to tackle these diseases. In Sullia, KVG medical college will be shouldering this responsibility while the partners in health management in Puttur talluk will be Fr Muller Medical College and in Bantwal taluk, KMC and Yenepoya medical colleges, she explained.  A J Hospital and K S Hegde Medical College have taken this responsibility in Beltangady taluk, with Mangalore city and other rural areas having been shared by all the medical colleges together, she stated. These medical colleges will also lend their support for controlling all infectious diseases like Rat fever, Dengue too, she elaborated.

The government is mulling over the idea of bringing even private nursing homes within the ambit of this healthcare initiative. Nursing colleges too will be involved, she said, also putting on record her deep appreciation for the help extended by all the medical college hospitals in the district in containing the deadly diseases that have been threatening normal life and economic standing of the district.
