Udupi: Senior Citizens Submit Memorandum Urging Better Amenities

Udupi, Jun 20:  A delegation of senior citizens from the district, submitted a memorandum to deputy commissioner (DC) Hemalatha on Friday, June 20, urging the district administration to hand over to them the Vittal Kamath Memorial children’s library building.

The senior citizens’ want to set up their association office in the building, located beside the flagpole in Ajjarkad. They also intend to set up a childrens’ library in their section of the building. 



They urged the DC to review the letter written by former Prasar Bharati chairman M V Kamath, in this regard. The senior citizens urged the district administration to illuminate Ajjarakad locality, where they go for early morning and evening walks, and to convert Bhujanga park into the district park. 
 
They urged the regional transport authority (RTA), to install fare meters in auto rickshaws and compulsorily allot seats to senior citizens in local buses. A memorandum to this effect has been submitted to the RTA.
 
K Narayan Shetty, president of senior citizens association, T Ravindra Nayak, vice-president, Vishwajna Shetty, secretary, A B Kodunja, joint secretary, Vishwanath Hegde, treasurer, member Elizabeth D’Souza and others were also present on the occasion.
