Mangalore, Jun 17: Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) should lead the way in solving the problems of commoners in the district since issues like investment and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) become irrelevant when problems of ration cards and land title deeds exist, said local MLA U T Khader, on Tuesday, June 17.

He was speaking at the felicitation ceremony for MLAs of Dakshina Kannada (DK) district organized by KCCI. MLAs Yogish Bhat, Vasant Bangera, and Ramanath Rai were honoured on the occasion.

Khader said the KCCI should support those who lost land in the SEZ project and help them get justice. He accused the district administration of negligence with regard to the common man’s problems and said they could be resolved only with the intervention of the KCCI.

The MLA also asked district-in-charge minister Krishna Palemar to hold a meeting of all the MLAs of the district to discuss the requirements for overall development of the area.

A memorandum was submitted to the Palemar through Bhat, urging quick action in this regard.

K N Prabhu, president of KCCI, presided over the function. KCCI office-bearers Ahmed Bava, Shekhar Poojary, and G Mohandas Prabhu were present on the dais.
