Mangalore, Jun 17: In another revolutionary move in the world of mobile phones, Spice Mobile has launched new mobile phones, the cheapest so far, worth Rs 599 with SIM card.

Speaking to media persons on Tuesday June 17, Rakesh Singh, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Spice, said that the new mobile phone has been designed, keeping in mind new mobile users in the rural area. Only 25% of the population in Karnataka is using mobile phones at present and 4.5 crore people do not use them at all. Therefore, Spice will concentrate on the rural market, he explained.

The new mobile phone titled S-300 is specially designed for the emerging markets. This no screen mobile set comes with a speaker phone and offers talk time of 3 hours and a 15 day battery backup, reducing the need for frequent recharging. It weights only 75 grams and three years of warranty has been offered by the company, he added.

Subscribers can make outgoing calls to any local number at Re 1 with lifetime validity. The company has studied the pulse of rural Karnataka including the first time users of mobile phones, Rakesh Singh said.

Kannada film actor Digant and Spice officer Kashyap were present at press meet.
