M'lore: Union Minister Oscar Urged to Increase Passenger Facilities at Suratkal Rly Stn

Mangalore, Jun 3: National Institute of Technology – Karnataka (NIT-K) Employees Association former president K Damodar Shetty, had recently submitted memorandum to union minister of state for labour Oscar Fernandes, in order to upgrade passenger facilities at Suratkal railway station.

Union minister was urged with demands to increase reservations in Matsyaganda and Netravati express trains, to incorporate PRS system, to erect one more platform on east side of Suratkal railway station, to allow halts at Suratkal railway station for Garib Rat train and Ernakulam – Nizamuddin trains, to extend Mangalore – Yashwantpur (Bangalore) train to Kundapur, erect over bridge at Haleyangady level crossing, it was stated in the memorandum. 

Union minister Oscar, after going through the memorandum, assured that additional compartment and reservation in Matsyaganda will be provided, only when the railways convinced of the passengers need. 

Former MLA U R Sabhapathy, Rajesh Rao Suratkal, Udupi district Congress president M A Gafoor were present at the occasion.
