Mangaluru: St Aloysius B Ed College celebrates Teachers’ Day

Mangaluru, Sep 7: St Aloysius B Ed College, a premier institute in the field of teacher education in the city celebrated Teachers’ Day. The students conducted a prayer service with the reading the scriptures of different religions. The students honoured and thanked the teachers for their contributions and selfless services to the college.

Fr Dionysius Vaz, rector, St Aloysius College Institutions, in his address invited the trainee-teachers to become mentors rather than just teachers. He insisted to take up teacher profession as a vocation. He also acknowledged the role played by the principal and the teacher-educators of the college in preparing competent teachers for the future.

Fr Denzil Lobo, secretary and treasurer-Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society was the chief guest. He highlighted the importance of celebrating Teachers’ Day and the role of teachers in education of students, the society and the country at large. The growth and development of any society mainly depend on the quality of education given by the teachers, he added.

The students enacted a dance-drama on the theme ‘Teacher’s Life’ and also conducted a few fun games for the teachers.

Shubha welcomed the gathering. Lehara and group invoked God’s blessings through a prayer song. Fr Nelson and group sung a wishing song. Niranjan and Glanet compered the programme. Shiny rendered the vote of thanks.
