Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (RD)

Mangalore, May 11: At the background of lodging complaint with Bajpe police by the officers of Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) on nine youth who were alleged to have hindered the survey of MSEZ authorities on Friday May 9, the residents of proposed SEZ in the surrounding areas of Permude, lay a siege to Bajpe police station, on Saturday May 10, thereby restrained the police from taking the youth to the court.

Addressing the protesters, Bajpe police inspector assured them of investigating the case further in revealing the truth.

Bajpe police inspector had summoned these youth to report at the police station, since Yogish, representing MSEZ had lodged complaint with them, alleging that one of their officer suffered fracture in his hand when these youth restrained them from carrying out their survey.  However, since these youth had gone to KIADB office, in order to file complaint against MSEZ officers in carrying out survey in their neighbourhood, they could not report to the police station.

When these youth arrived at the police station on 10.00 a m on Saturday, the police have not made any effort in calling MSEZ officers in resolving the issue amicably; instead they filed charges to produce them before the court.  Vidhya Dinakar, Madhukar Amin, Hemalatha and others arrived to the rescue of protesters in condemning the action of police. They demanded anticipatory bail to these youth who were accused of injuring the MSEZ officer while carrying out the survey in their neighbourhood.

Moideen Bava, Congress candidate of Mangalore North, Amaranath Shetty, Moodbidri candidate and other poll contestants urged the police to release these youth by joining the protesters in front of Bajpe police station.
