Mangalore, May 10: Congress admits that the inflation rate is very high in the country. This is nothing but side effect of rapid economic growth rate. But the union government is sure that, the inflation rate will come down gradually, said Renuka Chowdhri, minister of state for Women and Child Development.

Speaking to media persons in the city on Saturday May 10, she said that, BJP has shown hopeless management skills in the past while it was ruling the country. If it comes to power in the state, the people of the State will definitely experience high rate of price hike, she opined.

Congress has significantly contributed to political stability, social and economical issues under Sonia Gandhis’ guidance. The party always believes in stable government followed by good governance, overall development and equal opportunity to all, she added.

During BJP-JD (S) coalition rule in the state for 20 months, no single house was built for the poor in the state. BJP is known for destruction and non-development not only in Karnataka, but also in all parts of the country where it was and is in power, she added.

Meanwhile, another union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that external forces are also responsible for inflation in the country. The rate of crude oil has been shot up to 120 dollars per barrel from 38 dollars in the last 4 years. But the government has hiked the petroleum rates only once in the last 4 years. Almost 90% of the price rise is being absorbed in the form of subsidy by the center, he told.

Reduction in steel rate:

Prime Minister, finance minister and the steel minister Ram Vilas Paswan recently held a meeting with the steel producers in the country. The steel producers have agreed to reduce Rs 4,000 per tonne in steel. Meeting will also be held with cement producers for the same purpose. This would help in controlling price rise and inflation, he expressed hope.

Suresh Shetty, minister of Maharashtra said that, a meeting was held in Mumbai with all prominent leaders who hail from Karnataka. Leaders from all the communities were present in the meeting and all of them extended support to Congress, he added.

Union Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman M Veerappa Moily, former MP Vinaykumar Sorake and other Congress leaders were present at press meet.
