Mangalore, Apr 19: Tulu Ther, a token journey from the city to the capital of Tulu Nadu Barkur, was flagged off by Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, in front of office of the deputy commissioner here on Saturday April 19.

The symbolic journey will traverse Kulur, Mulky, Uchila, Katpady, Suratkal, Brahamavar and other places. The journey is a committed effort to press the authority concerned to set up High Court bench in the region, annexing Kasargod to Dakshina Kannada and other neighbouring districts so as to form a Tulu Nadu, an organizer said while speaking to news persons.

Tulu must be included in the academic syllabus and i Eighth Schedule of the Constitution with immediate effect, Harikrishna Punaroor said after flagging off the Tulu Ther.

Tulu is facing step-motherly treatment. Politicians hailing from the district are neglecting the region. The impending assembly elections is a golden opportunity to teach politicians an unforgettable lesson, who are paying lip service to Tulu and Tulu Nadu. Hence people of the region must be determined to vote such 'cunning politicians' out of power, suggested Peruru Jaaru, a social activist.

Other organizers were present on the occasion.
