Students denied bail for showing black flags to CM Adityanath

Lucknow, Jun 10 (PTI): A court here has denied bail to 11 college students including two girls who allegedly blocked the convoy of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and showed him black flags on Wednesday.

Eight of these students have also been suspended by the Lucknow University on charge of breaching security of the chief minister's convoy when he was on his way to attend a programme in the varsity.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sunil Kumar rejected the bail pleas of the students yesterday after perusal of case diary produced by Hasanganj police.

The court observed that the offence was of serious nature and, hence, the applicants did not deserve bail.

On June eight, Chief Judicial Magistrate Sandhya Srivastava had sent the 11 students to four days judicial remand. The court had summoned the entire case diary on Friday for considering bail pleas of the students.

Meanwhile, the Lucknow University said that eight students have been suspended and debarred from all student facilities in the university in the wake of the "security breach" of the chief minister's convoy.

"The names of suspended students are: Satwant Singh, Nitin Raj, Pooja Shukla, Anil Kumar Yadav, Ankit Kumar Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Madhurya Singh and Apoorva Verma," NK Pandey director, Information, Publication and Public Relation, University of Lucknow said.

On June 7, Samajwadi Party students wing activists showed black flags to Adityanath and raised slogans against the state government.

As Yogi's cavalcade moved towards the Lucknow university where he was invited as the chief guest in a programme on Chhatrapati Shivaji, activists from Samajwadi Party Chatra Sabha and other student groups squatted on the road and showed black flags.

The local police had a tough time controlling the workers who also raised slogans against the chief minister, Governor Ram Naik, who is also the Chancellor of the university, and Lucknow district administration.

The activists alleged that a BJP programme was being held at the expense of the university and students.

Good Job by debarring these students .. They should concentrate on study not on politics...Law should be stronger to facilitate non bailable arrest for all these nonsense and things should stop..

    Its Travesty of Justice-
Criminals & murderers are granted bail while black flag showers are not, seems like justice denied is justice delayed which itself is a crime against democratic rights.

Yogi was spared when he visited twice martyr's house. Just for his visit to the house it was decorated, sofas for seating arrangements and AC just for 30 minutes visit and then everything was dismantled. He could do this because Jawans are sacrificing their lives and dying at the border and he Is rediculing their families with this behaviour. Showing black flag was the right sign for him without any violence.

Showing black flags is not a crime. But breaking the security barricade and posing a threat to life is definitely a crime.
Thank God the police arrested these brainwashed students before the security personnel shot them down!

No ....it is new form of freedom for our youth and children. The country is systematically being drowned in this mass madness of religion and culture .Whoever opposing them will be chased by their dogs. All departments are forced to bend their ethics just to satisfy their draconian goals set by religious fanatics and all this is covered with a glossy cover of DEVELOPMENT and a big story of anti corruption repeatedly by agencies and media..THIS IS NOT DICTATORSHIP because it is shrouded with love of country, culture and religion...
