Mangalore, Mar 31: Tulu culture should not be confined to mere kambala; rather it is the guiding light that leads one in a good way, said Prof Amruta Someshwara, scholar in folklore.

He was addressing the gathering after releasing the books published by the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy at Tulu Chavadi here on Monday March 31.

Tulu culture is the embodiment of secularism, humanity, benevolence and other human values. It inspires one to respect other religions.

He said that the richness of Tulu literature must go into other languages too in the form of translation. It would allow the non-Tuluvas to know about the language and literature of the Tulu, he added.

Everyone must make optimum use of the resources available, he strongly suggested.

MK Seetaram Kulal, president of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, presided over the programme.

Kasaragod Chinna, playwright and others were present on the occasion.
