Udupi: MIC to Host Media Students' Convention on Apr 18-19

Udupi, Mar 31: A two day Manipal Media Students' Convention 2008 (MMSC '08) organised by the students of Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) will be held on April 18 and April 19 at MIC.

The convention will have workshops, discussions, conferences and paper presentations besides providing the students and other interested in the field of media an opportunity to interact with the experienced professionals from the industry.

The theme of the media convention is 'Communication through the World Wide Web'.

The first ever Manipal Bloggers' Meet will also be a part of this event where all the bloggers of Manipal will come together to discuss their blogs.

Mukesh Sharma, regional director of Doordarshan, K Srinivasan, founder and CEO of Prime Point Public Relations Limited and Prime Point Foundation, Chennai, Annie Zaidi, professional journalist and a passionate blogger along with many other pioneers of the field will speak on the occasion.

While The Times of India and Radio Mirchi are the main media partners of this event, The Manipal Journal and Yell Club are the publicity and event partners respectively.

Discussion on various topics related to media and blogging will be held on day one while on day two there will be a workshop on Podcasting. It will be followed by a workshop-cum-seminar on 'Internet content writing', 'Corporate news websites' and 'Social networking sites and e-papers.' The session will end with a discussion on 'Why New-Media is Not New.'
