Bangalore, Feb 24: The activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), staged protest against national one-day cricket team captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue, here on Saturday February 23, for not responding to the contract which he signed with Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd (KSDL) manufacturers of Mysore sandal soap.

Dhoni had entered into an agreement with KSDL for the consideration of Rs 54.52 lacs, to appear in advertisement for promoting their products.  However, in a breach of contract with KSDL, he entered into another contract with some other company, although his contract with KSDL was still in force. The activists set in blaze the effigy of Dhoni and shouted slogans against him.

Speaking on this occasion, Shivarame Gowda of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, said that if the cricket players are truly patriots, let them promote domestic products, he challenged.

Meanwhile, he accused that cricket players are making huge money in the name of patriotism. The protest would not be discontinued till Dhoni agrees to complete the term of contract signed with KDSL, he added.
